Formally Sarepta Music (Pty) Ltd, it was originally founded in 1984 by Anton Bekker and, together with its associated publishing and artist management companies, nurtured the international career of SAMA-winning pop/dance act MIC. European distribution was handled via the Dutch GMI Music group while Sarepta itself was the domestic distributor for labels such as Integrity Music, Reunion Records, Brentwood, Cedarmont, Verity, Parachute Music, Maranatha! Music, and Essential Records (3).
In April 2003 the company was sold to US-based Integrity Music after Mr. Bekker emigrated to Australia and now exists under the name Sarepta Music Distribution, "a division of Integrity Media Africa (Pty) Ltd."
