American label originally from Houston, TX, launched in August 1957. A subsidiary of Don Robey's Peacock Records, best known for recordings by Roy Head, O.V. Wright and Carl Carlton.
For any unofficial / bootleg copies of this label please use Back Beat (3)
Shut down in 1974 by ABC Records (which bought Robey's labels two years earlier; the remaining acts, including Carlton, were transfered to the parent ABC label).
Later renamed ABC Back Beat.
