- SR 2 Kulturradio (own spelling: SR 2 KulturRadio) is the second radio program of Saarländischer Rundfunk (SR) and covers the genre of culture in the broadest sense. As a public radio channel, the station offers a varied program in the sense of the basic service mandate. It bears the title: "...good to hear!"
SR 2 Kulturradio was launched in 1967 as "Studiowelle Saar," from 1972 to 1991 in cooperation with Süddeutscher Rundfunk (SDR) and Südwestfunk (SWF). From 1991 to 1994, parts of the broadcast content of hr2, the 2nd radio program of Hessischer Rundfunk, were added. SR 2 Kulturradio, so named since 1990, has been on the air as an all-day program since January 1, 1995.
The target audience includes people interested in culture as well as people interested in background information and opinions on political and world events. Critical and questioning program content is an essential component. Predominant musical colors include classical music, new music and jazz. Broadcast formats feature reports on politics, business, culture and society, as well as documentaries with background information.
