- Kieper is an independent, West Australian record label dedicated to releasing the work of Perth's electronic music artists. There is a rich and diverse electronic scene within Perth, Kieper works in collaboration with artists and collectives who are embracing digital experimentalism. The artists within the Kieper stable are playing with the traditional paradigm of music composition, creation and performance, and in the process are creating new and vastly different styles, and forms of, digitally created/computer based music.
Kieper is owned by Greg Lawrence - former music journalist turned musician. Greg performs as Audio Cephlon. He started Kieper in 2001 when he saw that - while there was an amazing amount talent, creativity and innovation within the Perth electronic music scene - there weren't many labels supporting such artists: not just in terms of releasing music, but also in terms of supporting their artistic endeavours. Kieper is a liminal space where genres and melodies merge; new styles, sounds and substance are created; innovative approaches to percussion and melody are developed; rules are broken and creativity runs rife.
